Today was our last day of Fairy tales! We celebrated our amazing Fairy tale unit by having a Fairy Tale Tea Party (we decided no one really likes tea, so it was hot chocolate). We also shared our own Fairy Tales that we had written with a friend, as well as doing some re-telling of our favourite fairy tales! We have some actors in our class!

Today was IREC's first ever Healthy Living Fair! Students went around in groups to different stations where they learned all sorts of things from water safety, self defense to how to make a healthy smoothie! Students had a great time participated in all the amazing stations! Today we sampled a variety of food to test out our taste buds! We made a prediction as to what each food would taste like, either sweet, salty, bitter, sour or spicy! Then we ate to see if our predictions were true! Check out some of our awesome sour faces!
I came across this quote today and I just thought it was AWESOME as we are slowly wrapping up our fairytale unit by writing our very own Fairytales! We also made these amazing mobiles about a character from The Frog Prince. Students chose to either describe the Frog or the Princess. We are working on our descriptive writing!
We are on to our fourth sense here in 1H, our sense of TOUCH! Students had to use their feely fingers to guess what was in each mystery sock!
We are learning about our nose and sense of smell! Students had to go around to 10 stations and smell the mystery container to try and guess the smell! Some of the items included onions, garlic, lemons and mint!
We used our monkey math scales today to figure out if equations are equal. For example does 6+2=8? If the scale was balanced then we knew we were right!
Dear Parents,
The grade 1 classes will be putting together a Mother's Day Slide show and song for the May Assembly. For the slide show, we would love to include a picture of each of our students with their mom or special female role model in their life (grandma, aunt etc.). In order to have enough time to put the slide show together can you please send a picture of mom/child ASAP (by April 15th at the latest!) in order to give us enough time to put the slide show together. If possible, please e-mail a digital picture to me. This will ensure the best quality photo in the presentation. The slide show will be shown at assembly, and then posted on the classroom blog. Thank you! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail or call 885-4646. Today in science we learned about our ears! How we hear, how to protect our ears and also how to sign our name in sign language!
